My Baby Peanut,
You are already a month old. What a wonderful month it has been! It's as if you have always been a part of our lives; your transition into the family has been nearly seamless. Honestly, little one, I don't know how we were functioning without you. You are by far, the sweetest baby that ever existed. End. Of. Discussion. Even your crying sounds angelic. Everyone that has met you has been thoroughly impressed by your sweet, agreeable nature. You are just so...serene. When Archer gets in your face for kisses, or when he melts-down inches from you, or even when Nala barks right next to you, you don't flinch. I've even seen you sleep through a fire alarm. I have so much to learn from you, kid.
That doesn't mean you are one to just sit back and let the world pass you by. I mean, at barely a week old, you rolled over from your belly to your back. Very impressive, kid! Maddox, you have mad neck strength and have no trouble holding your head up for minutes at a time. You love watching everything your big brother does. If I were to lay you on the floor, you would wiggle and squirm your way over to him no matter how far away he was. Give it time, little love. You'll be running around with Archer soon enough. For now, let's just focus on snuggling.
Oh, the snuggles! let's discuss this for a second. You are a world class snuggle bunny, Maddox. You just melt into the arms of whomever holds you. You don't even care. Everybody gets cuddles! You are warm and tiny, and make the most heartbreakingly sweet cooing noise. I've tried various times to record it but alas! It is too soft. I'll keep trying, though. I'm pretty sure if the world's leaders listened to your happy cooing all wars would end.
Maddox, you are love, sweetness, and innocence come to life.
Thank you so much for being you. You are a gift, my son, and so eternally loved.
xoxoxo,
Mommy, Daddy, and Archer

Week 5
I totally forgot to mention that Maddox celebrated his 1 month birthday last week. Sorry, dude! I'm writing his monthly letter in bits and pieces. Much like how I'm doing everything these days... little by little, piece by piece.

A Photo Flower Pot For Under $5
This weekend is my first official Mother's Day as a mama of TWO boys! I still can't believe it. We don't have a ton of stuff planned, and I like it that way. I just want to relax with my menfolk, eat delicious food, and watch HGTV. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll even get to sleep in hahaha.
If you all are interested, I wrote a gift guide for all the ladies out there who don't want "stuff" for Mother's Day (or birthdays, Christmas, etc...) It's over here.
Let's not make this all about me, thoughsnortlaugh. In honor of Young House Love's "Pinterest Challenge" and Mother's Day, Archer and I decided to whip up some photo flower pots for his grandmothers. And by Archer and I, I mean he took a 3 hour nap so I could do this without his grabby hands grabbing stuff. LOVE HIM.
I had actually pinned this image way before Archer was born. It's just the thing my mom and J's mom would love. Unfortunately, when I clicked on the link it sent me into the Great Abyss Of The Interwebz. The caption claims it's from creativehomeidea.com, so I'll just go with that.
Here's my inspiration:
Ps. This cost LESS than $5 to make! Win!
To the project at hand!
First, I collected all mah stuffs.
Plants, pots, glue, brush, scissors, and silly pictures.
Ah yes, and potting soil.
Second, I cut out the pictures and attempted to glue them onto the pots with Elmer's glue. That was a big time FAIL, y'all.
The glue didn't dry fast enough and I didn't take into consideration that the pots have a one inch lip at the top. Thus, making my 4 inch pot a 3 inch pot. The 4x6 pictures didn't fit. Whomp, Whomp... So Icursed under my breath returned them, got the six inch pots, and used Mod Podge. What can't that stuff do?!
MOD. PODGE.
Lastly, I planted the plants.
Great Success! My personal favorite is the one where Archer looks like he sprung an idea.
Here's the rundown:
Pots- $1.37 ea for 6 inch pots at Lowes
Plants- $0.89 ea at Lowes
Pictures- $0.09 ea at Wal-Mart (I used their 1- Hour service). I recommend matte pictures since you will be man-handling them.
Mod Podge- I had on hand. I can't remember how much that stuff is. It lasts FOREVER though.
Potting soil- I had on hand. I can't remember how much that is either. Sorry!
Total= $2.35 per pot if you have Mod Podge and potting soil.
If you want to check out more "Pinterest Challenges" might I suggest: Katie, Emily, and Renee's.
